What is Galvanized Steel Sheet (GI)?

Galvanized sheet is a product obtained by applying metallic zinc coating process on both surfaces of flat steel material produced by different processes in accordance with customer demands.

The galvanized sheet production process involves the application of five main processes – pre-preparation, annealing, galvanizing, tempering, tension straightening and, depending on demand, oil/passivation post-treatment – on the same line and continuously to coil flat steels. In the galvanizing line for galvanized sheet, the coils are hot-dip coated with zinc (GI) or zinc-iron alloy (GA).

Galvanized Steel Sheet (GI) Properties

  • Corrosion Resistance
  • Can be shaped
  • Flawless Surface Appearance
  • Weldability
  • Dyeability

This useful sheet material is preferred by many sectors due to its technical features. The automotive sector is at the forefront of these sectors. This material is also very popular in the automotive industry as well as in the white goods industry.

Galvanized Sheet (GI) Areas of Use

Galvanized sheets are used in sectors such as automotive, white goods main and sub-industries, building/construction; panel, cable tray production, various steel construction production, panels, metal goods, storage and shelf units and ventilation units in many different areas of industry.
