What is IPN/IPE Profile

What is IPN Steel Profile

IPN is the short form for bar-shaped structural elements or beams with curved inner surface of flanges and dimensions according to EN 10365. Product tolerances are defined by EN 10024:1995. The IPN steel profile series has lost considerably in favor of the assembly-friendly IPE series due to the inclined flanges.

IPN profiles are used for joining stainless steel beams by welding or bolting. IPN profiles are hot-fabricated and then hot rolled or extruded. The upper and lower horizontal part of the beam is called the flange and the vertical middle part of the connection is called the web.

Austenitic grades according to EN 10088-3:1D are mainly used for stainless steel structures: 1.4301 (304), 1.4307 (304L), 1.4401 (316), 1.4404 (316L) and 1.4571.

What is IPE Steel Profile

IPE is the short form for bar structural elements or beams with parallel inner surface of flanges and dimensions according to EN 10365. Product tolerances are defined by EN 10034:1993.

IPE profiles and stainless steel beam can be joined together, then welded or bolted or hot fabricated, then hot rolled or extruded. The upper and lower horizontal part of the beam is called the flange and the vertical middle part of the connection is called the web. The most common version in this product line is the standard IPE profile. The lighter versions of IPE AAAA up to A and the heavier IPE O are very rarely used.

IPE stainless steel beams are used not only in trade and industry but also in the construction of machinery and equipment. The use of stainless steel profiles is characterized by a high compositional flexibility and a fast and low-cost construction (with the possibility of prefabrication in steel production). Stainless steel IPE profiles are mostly produced from scrap and can be recovered again after use, thus conserving new resources.

Austenitic grades according to EN 10088-3:1D are mainly used for stainless steel structures: 1.4301 (304), 1.4307 (304L), 1.4401 (316), 1.4404 (316L) and 1.4571.
